NVHS to Host Gala in Support of Local Homeless and At-Risk Veterans
The Annual Rescuing Veterans Lost in America Gala Unites the Community to Combat Veteran Homelessness
MELBOURNE, Fla. — National Veterans Homeless Support (NVHS) is proud to announce its highly anticipated 10th Annual Rescuing Veterans Lost in America Gala, an evening dedicated to uplifting those who served and raising critical funds to combat veteran homelessness in Central Florida.
This powerful event brings together community members, businesses, and civic leaders to stand united in support of veterans facing housing instability, mental health challenges, and economic hardship. Proceeds from the Gala will directly support NVHS’s frontline programs, including outreach, transitional housing, case management, and more.
Measurable, Lasting Impact
NVHS has reduced the homeless veteran population in Brevard County by 90 percent, from 1,800 in 2008 to fewer than 200 in 2024. In the past 12 months, the organization provided street outreach, prevention case management, and transitional housing to more than 400 veterans and their families. NVHS’s commitment to transparency and impact has earned it a Platinum rating on Candid and a four-star rating on Charity Navigator for fiscal responsibility.
“This Gala isn’t just an event, it’s a powerful reminder that no veteran should be left behind,” said NVHS Founder George Taylor. “Every dollar raised helps us reach those who have served and now need us most.”
Keynote Speaker: Lieutenant Governor Jarrid “Jay” Collins
The keynote speaker for the evening will be Lieutenant Governor and Green Beret Jarrid “Jay” Collins, a decorated Army Special Forces combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient. After losing his leg in service, Collins requalified as an active-duty Green Beret and continued serving in Special Operations before retiring as a First Sergeant.
Now serving as Florida’s Lieutenant Governor, Collins has passed more than 40 bills and secured over $120 million for the Tampa Bay area. His life of sacrifice and service embodies the mission of NVHS, making him a powerful voice for veterans’ needs and resilience.
A Sold-Out Evening of Support
This year’s Gala has officially sold out, reflecting the incredible generosity of the Central Florida community. The overwhelming response underscores the shared commitment to ensuring no veteran is left behind.
