Local nonprofit BAC is proud to host its ninth annual Performing Arts Showcase on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. Inspired by its “Out of this World” theme, this year’s expansive roster features a plethora of works (music, acting, singing, and dancing) being performed by 150 local artists and/or students with disabilities.
Presented at 10:30am on the main stage of the Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts, this event will showcase the talents of 11 classes of middle and high school Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students from Brevard Public Schools (BPS) in addition to 2 groups of adults with disabilities from BAC’s Adult Day Training (ADT) program. This diverse and inclusive representation of abilities will grace the stage thanks to the 8-week guidance each participant received from professional performing artists. Special guest appearances will also be made by Kelly Miller, a soloist from Satellite High School, and the Strings Orchestra, who will accompany their peers at Space Coast Junior / Senior High.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of various partners from across our community,” says Lee Sorensen, Arts Program Manager for BAC. “They willingly devote time and resources to the individuals we serve, allowing them to explore and develop their own artistic expression which we are so happy to share during this event.”
Among the program’s line-up are Eau Gallie High School, Southwest Middle School, Bayside High School, Kennedy Middle School, Johnson Middle School, Space Coast Jr. / Sr. High School and Central Middle School along with teaching artists: Alicia Robin of Dance Variations, Dallas Clark of DrumLuv Dance Center, Andrea Smith, Joan Taddie, Chris Kahl, Charles Baugartner and Kam McCarthy.
BAC’s Performing Arts Showcase will be an American Sign Language (ASL) accompanied event. Tickets are free and open to the public, but seats are limited.
