NEW PROGRAM AT THE SPCA OF BREVARD BRINGS MICROCHIP SCANNERS TO TITUSVILLE TO HELP FAMILIES REUNITE WITH THEIR LOST PETS
TITUSVILLE, FL – May 23, 2024 – The SPCA of Brevard is excited to announce an innovative new program designed to make reuniting lost pets with their families easier and more accessible. Thanks to the generous donations from our community, we have partnered with the Titusville Police Department and Titusville Fire Department to place microchip scanners in several key locations around the Titusville community.
These strategically placed scanners are available for use after hours, ensuring that if you find a lost pet you don’t have to wait until the next business day to take action. Instead, you can visit one of these convenient locations to check for a microchip and begin the process of reuniting the pet with its family immediately. Each scanner station is equipped with a handbook that provides step-by-step instructions on how to use the scanner and what to do after scanning, whether the pet has a microchip or not. By empowering the community with these tools, they can help significantly reduce the number of pets that end up in shelters.
We’re planning to extend this program throughout Brevard County. Brevard County Fire Rescue is on board to place scanners in all 34 of their stations across Brevard County. For those who wish to support our community microchip scanner program, there are two ways to get involved: you can donate $200 to sponsor a scanner or $100 to provide 15 microchips for pets in the community. Your generosity will directly contribute to the success of this program and help reunite countless pets with their families.
“We are extremely grateful for the community support that has made this program possible,” said Susan Naylor, Executive Director. “Our goal is to make it easy and accessible for lost pets to be reunited with their families, and these microchip scanning stations are a huge step forward in achieving that goal.”
