The Melbourne Regional Chamber is entering 2023 with new leadership for the Nonprofit Council! Meet Co-Chairs, Emma Reynolds and Akili Phillips.
Emma Reynolds is a native Floridian and has lived on the Space Coast for six years. Emma is the Director of Resource Development at United Way of Brevard and is responsible for overseeing and leading the campaign team, raising. Her passion is mobilizing the caring power in the community to help open doors and change lives for Brevard’s most vulnerable citizens. Before working for United Way, Emma was a middle school science teacher for 12 1/2 years and was even awarded Teacher of the Year at her school in 2013. Emma lives in Cocoa Beach with her husband Mark, who is a United Methodist pastor, and her two children, Isaac and Evie, ages 10 and 12.
Akili Phillips is a nonprofit fundraiser with a passion for connecting communities to causes. Through intentional relationship building, purpose-driven events, and mission-focused social media she aims to bring a storyteller’s approach to fundraising. Akili is the Development Coordinator at Family Promise of Brevard, a local nonprofit with a community-powered approach to supporting families on their paths to seeking stable housing. Akili holds a B.A. in Visual Communications and has experience in fundraising, events, and marketing for nonprofits. She is the proud mother of a bichon/poodle mix named Sam and 15 house plants.
These two nonprofit powerhouses are excited to meet all of our amazing nonprofit members and have some great things in store for the year, including quarterly meetings with themes, break-out groups, and expert panels. Please see below for the 2023 Nonprofit Council event schedule.
